The Oregon Historical Society is thrilled to partner with Ruby Vineyard, a winery in the Chehalem Mountains, for the release of the Hendricks Legacy Pinot noir, a wine with ties to the Oregon Trail. Because of its historic roots, Ruby Vineyard wanted to host the release of this new wine at the Oregon Historical Society for wine club and Oregon Historical Society members!
Ruby Vineyard co-owner Stephen Hendricks’ great-great grandfather, Abijah Hendricks, departed for Oregon on May 22, 1843 on the first wagon train of the Oregon Trail. He settled near Carlton, and in 2016, Stephen was able to purchase grapes from the same acres that his great-great grandfather homesteaded, now Timbale & Thyme Vineyard. This new release is a wine in honor of that legacy, with a label that bears the land deed originally granted to his family.
Join us for this special release party featuring flights of wine from Ruby Vineyard, light bites, and speeches from Stephen Hendricks and Lori Erickson, curator of the Oregon Historical Society’s 2014 exhibition Clink! A Taste of Oregon Wine. The traveling version of Clink! will also be on special display for the evening, as well as the Hendricks family’s original land deed.
