Loveness Wesa was born in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe where she grew up surrounded by the traditional music and dance. She learned to dance from her mother, aunt, and grandmother and later pursued her interest in music and dance in school, learning from many of Zimbabwe’s finest dancers. Loveness also learned traditional batik on fabric so she also teaches workshops on this art form as well.

Dance and Song
Loveness will introduce students to dance and songs from Zimbabwe and to the roles these traditions play in Zimbabwe culture.
 
The Art of Batik
Loveness teaches a method of batiking that uses flour and water.
  • This form does not involve hot wax transfer therefore it is safe for students in grades 3-12.
 
Assembly Performance
This energetic presentation features the dance and songs of the Venda region of Zimbabwe. It incorporates various traditional dance styles including Shona, Ndbele, Venda and Sotho.
